Paint is pigment bound in a solvent medium.
Painting is an art form in which pigment, bound in a medium is transferred to a support to create an image. The main aspect of paint is its medium, which is the binder and additionally a solvent.
For example, the binder in watercolor is gum arabic. This holds the dry pigment together, resulting in a thick paste which is diluted with water (the solvent) to the desired consistency. The support for painting varies widely, and can be any surface that the paint adheres to.
