Drawing primarily uses line to create form and figure.

Drawing generally refers to the use of line to create form and figure, as opposed to paint, where rendering is done with blending, smearing, and smudging. Drawing and paint can be used together, and many artists use painterly techniques in their drawing. The majority of illustrations using drawing materials take the form of dry media, with pen and ink being the exception. In modern illustrations many artists are using digital art to recreate or give the effects of chalk, pastels, pen, and ink, rather than using the original mediums. Drawings are also scanned and manipulated with computer enhancements.
