"The question of “Faculty Supervision” will not down.
The matter of the athletic board of control is no sooner out of the way than we are confronted with our old friends, “Faculty Control of the Daily.”
The stockholders will meet this afternoon at 1:15 p.m. ostensibly to reconsider the plans as amended by the subscribers, but really to consider and discuss the subscribers amendment which gives the faculty representation on the Board of Publishers - There should be no attempt to conceal this as the real purpose of the meeting - The Daily is a student organization pure and simple - We have lately attempted to reorganize so as to place the control of the paper as nearly as possible in the hands of the subscribers - The new organization called for a board of publishers vested with control - This membership board consisted [solely] of students. In the meeting of the subscribers, after heated discussion, this was amended and it was decided to invite the faculty to appoint two members to places on the board - This was done in the interest of harmony and because we appreciate the aid that the faculty can give us. What did the faculty do - they accepted our invitation to appoint two members to sit with us on our governing board - What else? - They then said to the faculty members - “We appoint you to become members of the board of Publishers and we give you the power to veto any action that this board may take”
This is the whole story, think it over."
