Description
Image of a clipping of a newspaper article titled, "Future of Daily May Be At Stake," edited from a digitized version of a page from the March 30, 1906 issue of The Minnesota Daily student newspaper (page 1). The text of the article is as follows:
"Today’s Meeting of Utmost Importance
Refusal of Subscribers to Accept Corporation Plans Has resulted in Unlooked for Complications.
It now looks as if the unwillingness of the Daily Subscribers to accept the plans submitted to them by the shareholders of the corporation for the future management of the paper would result in serious complications.
The cause of the trouble was in regard to the faculty clause. The corporation had submitted plans for the mutualization of the paper, but had made no arrangements for faculty representation on the board of publishers, the body which was to have taken the place of the present board of directors, feeling that the government of the Daily by the faculty should be from the faculty bench thru its press and auditing committees.
The subscribers accepted the plans as presented with the exception of this one matter and placed two faculty members upon the Board.
In as much as the faculty had given these two members the power of veto over any action of the board it is possible that the attitude of the students who favored the faculty representation at first may have changed and that the action of the subscribers many now be favorable to the share holders in case they are given another chance to mutualize, by the action of the stockholders at today’s meeting.
The meeting will take place at 1:15 today in Dr. McClumpha’s room."
