"June 3, 1918
Dean E.E. Nicholson
Chemistry Building
My dear Dean Nicholson:
At the meeting of the Regents held today I presented the recommendation that the Regents authorize the use of the Minnesota Daily as the official channel for communications to the student body and that every collegiate student registered in the University be required to subscribe for the Daily. I also presented in full the recommendation or communication from various student organizations signed by Mr. Walter M. Greaza, Mr. E.B. Pierce, Mr. Harold W. Gillen, and Mr. John W. Boyle. After carefully consideration it seemed to the Regents impossible to approve the recommendation. It becomes my duty, therefore, to inform you that the request is denied. The Regents felt that it was scarcely within their power to make such a requirement of every student in the University.
Believe me,
Sincerely yours,
M.L. Burton
