Cover, The Minnesota Merger, February 11, 1902

Image of the cover of the February 11, 1902 issue of The Minnesota Merger student newspaper. The Minnesota Merger was a temporary title that was briefly used when The Minnesota Daily student newspaper and The Minnesota Daily News student newspaper were merged upon the insistence of University President Cyrus Northrop. The cover page is yellowed from age. The masthead at the top of the page includes the text, "The Minnesota Merger," in block letters. Below the title is the volume, location, date, and number of the publication, "Vol. III, University of Minnesota, Tuesday, February 11, 1902, No. 95. A stamp with the text, "Minnesota Historical Society" is visible in the upper right corner. The content on the front page is arranged into 4 columns. The first column includes an advertisement for the University Book Store that lists prices for books and special bargains. Articles and notices are printed in the remaining 3 columns. Headlines of the articles include, "Annual Play Great Success," "Fargo Was Easy," "Gopher Recount," and "Papers Merge." The latter article includes the details of the merger of the two newspapers.
