Description

Image of a clipping of an article titled "The Minnesota Daily" edited from a digitized version of a page from the March 3, 1900 issue of the Ariel student newspaper (274-275). The image is a composite of two (2) "clippings" as the text of the article is printed on two (2) separate pages in two (2) separate columns in the original layout of the pages. The text is as follows:

"The action taken last Saturday at the meeting of the Ariel Association is the most significant one which the Ariel has for some time been able to record. The importance of the measure was decidedly disproportionate to the number in attendance. Of those who were present it was the general consensus of opinion that the proposed change should be made in the publication of the University paper, and we shall, therefore, in the course of a few weeks be blessed with a daily.

Our experience with a daily paper has been limited to the publication of FOOTBALL last Fall, during the most enthusiastic part of the football season. It must be said to have been a grand success, accomplishing fully the purpose for which it was intended. That the publication of a regular daily paper can be made a success, we have no doubt. In order to be a success, however, the project must meet with the hearty support and cooperation. It will require the expenditure of considerable amount of time and money to turn out a daily that will be a credit to the institution. Students must not only lend their support by way of subscription, but they must also contribute a part of their time and talent to the editing of the paper. Those who have special aptitude for that kind of work should not withhold their services. If we unite our efforts we can make the daily a success. We can make it subserve the ends of a college paper much better than a weekly ever could do. Our aim should be to have it occupy among the college dailies, the high position which the Ariel has held among the college weeklies."
