Description
Image of a clipping of a newspaper article titled, ""The Minnesota Daily,"" edited from a digitized version of a page from the March 3, 1900 issue of the Ariel student newspaper (269). The text is displayed as it originally appeared on the page layout. The text is as follows:
"Last Saturday the Ariel Association met in chapel to consider the constitution for the “Minnesota Daily.” A comparatively small crowd was present considering the importance of the work. Almost all the articles of the constitution passed without any change whatever. The chief contest arose over the proposed plan of selecting the board of editors by means of an advisory board, nearly half of those present being in favor of nominations by an advisory board and election by the association. Finally, however, the clause as reported by the committee was adopted. A few minor changes were made in order to clear up the obscurity of some of the doubtful clauses. The constitution and by-laws were then adopted by the association.
According to the new constitution the annual Ariel election will occur on March 17th. Only those subscribers who have paid up their subscriptions will be entitled to vote. The five student members of the Board of Directors will be selected at this meeting, three of them being from the Academic Department, one from the Law, and one from the Medic. These five with two faculty members, to be chosen by the faculty, are to compose the Board of Directors, and are to select the Board of Editors, so that they may assume their duties by March 26.
It is necessary that men of good judgment be placed upon the Board of Directors in order that they may make a wise selection of editors and may carefully supervise the conduct and audit the accounts of the editors. Candidates should be talked over during the next two weeks so that there may be some definite ideas before the meeting."
