Cover, "The Weekly Ariel," Ariel, September 12, 1891

Image of the cover of the September 12, 1891 issue of Ariel, the first edition to be published under the new distribution schedule of weekly (from monthly). The cover is green and shows signs of age with torn edges and missing pieces. There is faint writing in red pencil at the top of the page: 11, 18, 9; 1901 Miss Nos. 31." The text printed on the cover includes the title of the publication, "Ariel," Volume Number XV (15), "University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, September 12, 1891," and the number of the issue, "No. 1." The heading states, "The Weekly Ariel" followed by the text, "Will It Be A Success? This Depends Upon You. Will You Do Your Part? Students, Professors, and Alumni Should Subscribe and Pay for the Ariel at once and success is certain. All subscriptions are taken by our Business Manager or his Agents. Ariel Association." This is followed by an advertisement for attending the University of Minnesota with a description of the departments of the institution and information on how to attain the Annual Catalogue, signed by Cyrus Northrop, President.
