THERE ARE NO MORE FENCE-SITTERS -- THE FENCES ARE BEING TORN DOWN.
PICKET LINE: At 7:30 this morning a picket line was established around
Morrill Hall to demonstrate student-faculty support for
the students awaiting trial for alleged damage and disruption
to Morrill Hall on January 14, 1969. Many concerned students
are in the picket lines. Join us now!!!
RALLY: Today at 12 noon a rally at Coffman Union will bring you
up to date on all the latest developments.
At 6:30 Wednesday morning March 5 two of our fellow students were awakened
by the Minneapolis Police. They were arrested as a result of an indictment
issued by the Hennepin County Grand Jury on the last day of its session.
Horace Huntley, Rosemary Freeman, and Warren Tucker were charged with ag-
gravated criminal damage to property, inciting riot, and two counts of
unlawful assembly for their role in the Morrill Hall demonstration last
January.
These charges are trumped up, absurd charges that will never stand up in
court. There was no riot!!! All the damages were paid for.
The students negotiated a peaceful settlement in good faith. But reprisals
have been taken under outside pressure.
The legal action directed at the leadership of AAAC is a vindictive attempt
to break the back of a student political organization struggling for social
change. As many as 300 people sat in at Morrill Hall yet only the black
leaders were arrested. This is an act of vengence and intimidation to
frighten and harass potential support of all student political groups. These
arrests are a threat to all present and future student political activity
which works for legitimate change.
DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN HERE. SUPPORT YOUR BROTHERS!!
