DONT READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO BE FOOLED !
It's easy to be fooled. It's easy to think that by spending your time in the R.O.T.C. that you are doing all you can for your country. It's easy to wear a snappy uniform and impress those who don't or can't wear one. It's easy to think that in a future war you will be among the heros.
It's easy to believe that somehow as Americans we are a little different and a bit superior to everyone else, to think that the average German has a Prussianized warlike mind and that the Japanese are not quite human and for that reason a constant threat. It's easy to think that when the United States arms, it is for defense, while the rest of the nations arm for offense.
But it is not at all easy and far less pleasant to face the facts. It is not so much fun to realize that the world is on the brink of another war in which the United States will be involved. It is very unpleasant to think that our generation is perilously close to suffering as no generation has ever suffered, that our lives will destroyed and our bodies maimed because of dumb allegiance to the foolishness of the past.
It is perhaps not easy to realize that it is our responsibility to see that our generation is not thus destroyed......that youth by united action can prevent war and that students all over the world look for American students to lead the way. Because we will be the ones to suffer most and to bear the brunt of another war, we must protest and make our protest effective. And this we can do, only by united action through the International Student Strike Against War, April 12 at 11:30.
Issued by the Peace Action Committee.
Please pass this on.
