Dear President Ford:
The Board in Control of Student Publications has considered your letter of January 25, 1939. After careful study of the financial condition of the several publications under the supervision of the Board the resolution below was unanimously adopted:
"WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota has provided office space and other facilities to the student publications under the supervision of the Board in Control of Student Publications since their several beginnings at no cost to them, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Regents and the University administration have provided space in the new Journalism Building that will give to these publications more adequate quarters then they have ever previously enjoyed, and
WHEREAS, the Board in Control of Student Publications has, over a period of many years, laid aside a certain portion of the earnings of The Minnesota Daily, the Ski-U-Mah, and the Gopher looking forward to the eventual improvement of housing and other facilities for the said publications, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board in Control of Student Publications that the Treasurer of the Board and its Financial Adviser are hereby directed to appropriate the sum of $25,000 and to forward this sum to the Board of Regents to be applied toward the erection of the new Journalism Building, the said sum of $25,000 to be drawn from the reserve and current accounts of The Minnesota Daily, the Ski-U-Mah and the Gopher in accordance with the recommendations of the special committee appointed for that purpose now filed with the Board.
