AMERICA PREPARES FOR WAR
LARGEST EXPENDITURE IN THE HISTORY OF NATIONS
The War Department appropriation bill of $378,000,000 is one of the largest in peace time history BUT in additon to this Chief of Staff, General McArthur, has asked Congress for $405,000,000 (for construction), and Congressman Mc Swain assures him that he can get this amount from the budget of the P.W.A. Besides this the Navy Will spend at least $513,000,000 this year for construction, maneuvers, personnel, etc.
Thus America with a total war budget of nearly a BILLION AND A HALF has far outdistanced her nearest competitors in the expenditure race. We must protest before we are plunged into another war.
Half a Million Trained Men
General Mc Arthur will add 46,000 men to the existing Standing Army of 130,000. In addition to these forces are 185,000 National Guardsmen and 114,000 Reserve Officers. Nearly half a million men to which number the New York Daily News and the Chicago Tribune would add 300,000 by militarizing the C.C.C. boys. These two papers are carrying on a campaign of propaganda not only for militarizing C.C.C. training but for making that training compulsory for all American Youth.
Join the student of America in protesting this fateful militarization.
IS ROOSEVELT LEADING US TO SLAUGHTER
How else can we interpret the Pacific Navy maneuvers which Roosevelt has O.K.'d for May? "The greatest Armada under one command in the history of the world", according to Admiral Reeves, will literally "thumb its nose" at Japan on her very doorstep.
Unite with us in protesting while there is still time to save the lives of our Oriental brothers across the Pacific as well as our own.
