Bell's Passion for History
Description
In 1953, James Ford Bell, founder of Minnesota's General Mils Corp., established at the University the first and only library in the world dedicated to the history and impact of trade. Among his first purchases for the new library: the 1424 nautical chart (perhaps the first to depict America) and the 1507 Waldseemuller globe gores, the "map that named America."
