Original Narratives of the James Boys #1; originally published May 11, 1901, reprinted December 1938.
Minnesota was the last stop for the James-Younger Gang in 1876. Their target was the First National Bank of Northfield, located far outside of the gang's usual territory. On September 7 at 2 p.m., they attempted to rob the bank. The citizens of Northfield quickly realized a robbery was in progress and decided to do something about it. The day is celebrated every year in Northfield as Defeat of Jesse James Day.
