Photographic scan of cover of Amar chitra katha (Immortal Picture Stories): “Krishna Retold from the Bhagawat Puran,” series created by Anant Pai, Bombay (Mumbai): H. G. Mirchandani for India Book House Education Trust, 1982-1983. Cover features ornate depiction of the elephant-headed Hindu deity Ganesha, reclining on a gold throne against a dark blue background. In the foreground, a rat in a red and gold coat--similar to the clothing that Ganesh wears above--stands at the deity’s feet eating from food on a gold platter. Illustration is bordered in pale yellow stripe and topped by a decorative white and gold arch, with the remaining space on the cover printed in green. Title and series title is printed on a wide orange stripe at the top of the page, with the title and subtitle set in black sans serif type, all capitals.
