Title

Reproduction in the Chick

Description

The yolk contains the ovum of the hen. The ovum or egg is fertilized in the hen's body by the sperm of the rooster, before the white and the shell are added. The fertilized egg begins to develop before it is laid. To complete its development it must be kept warm (in the nest or incubator) for twenty-one days.
