Minnesota's Own

From its beginning in 1851, the seed and nursery sector in Minnesota grew slowly at first, then flourished.  Early-maturing vegetables and farm crops, as well as coldhardy trees and shrubs were being developed by local companies, such as Jewell Nursery.  One of the stories included here details the development of “Grimm” alfalfa, a crop that changed the face of Minnesota and Wisconsin agriculture.
