Tenement Mother doing Piecework

Photograph of a mother doing piecework (work that was paid by items completed, rather than hourly, and often performed by working class women and children in their homes) in her tenement apartment. The photo was taken by reformers around 1910 to gain sympathy and spread awareness about the living conditions of New York tenements.
